THE SCHOOL:
An independent, private non-denominational Christian school offering Preschool, Private Elementary School, After School and Summer programs.

LOCATION:
Our campus is located in the heart of Irving, Texas, conveniently less than a mile from the Las Colinas Business District in a friendly residential setting.

HISTORY:
Founded in 1985 to a fill a growing void in children’s education, Darin and Christy Sloan purchased and have operated the school since 1996.

ACADEMICS

PROGRAMS:
Preschool (ages 2-4), Private Elementary School (grades K-5th), After School (K-5th) and Summer (ages 2-5th Grade).

CURRICULUM:
The A Beka curriculum, an advanced, Christian, phonics-based, teacher-directed traditional approach to learning.

FACULTY:
The Sloan School employs teachers who are selected for their excellent professional credentials as well as their exceptional personal character, are certified in First Aid and CPR and boast an average tenure of 15 years total teaching experience, 6 years with The Sloan School.

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES:
An integral part of our mission to providing an outstanding Christian education is the dedication to develop your whole child. Thus, we offer Music, Art, Spanish, Chapel and Gymnastics in our classes. Further, we take full advantage of the historic, cultural and social opportunities available in the DFW Metroplex by taking our students on numerous field trips to places including The Science Place and The Dallas Arboretum just to name a few.

 

ABOUT THE OWNERS

Darin and Christy Sloan have owned and operated The Sloan School since 1996. Mr. Sloan serves as the Chief Administrator of The Sloan School and is responsible for the strategic direction and vision and quality assurance. Also, Mr. Sloan devotes an extraordinary amount of personal attention to the day-to-day operations.

Previously, Mr. Sloan held the position of Youth Pastor for one of the largest and fastest growing churches in America. Additionally, Mr. Sloan serves on the Board of Connecting Hearts Ministry, coaches two teams in the Irving Soccer Association, teaches a class in the Adult Bible Communities at Irving Bible Church, has completed 2 marathons and is involved in numerous other church and civic organizations. Mr. Sloan received a B.A. in Speech Communications from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and has completed over three years of coursework towards a Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Christy Sloan has served as Director of The Sloan School since 1993. In this role, Mrs. Sloan manages the faculty and staff, sets the discipline policy, coaches, guides and mentors faculty and staff and teaches Health and Safety. Additionally, Mrs. Sloan serves on the Board of the City of Irving’s Mustang Recreation Center and is actively involved with the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Sloan received a B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Mr. And Mrs. Sloan have two children, both of which attend The Sloan School, and live in Irving, Texas.
